SWITZERLAND - WHO: Global medical oxygen reserves are running low

Medical oxygen for patients with severe COVID-19 symptoms is running out, while one million new cases of infection are currently registered worldwide, warned today the head of UN Health, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

"The global report on new coronavirus disease is expected to reach 10 million next week," said the WHO Director-General.

"Demand is currently exceeding oxygen supply," Ghebreyesus added.

The WHO estimates that the world currently needs about 620,000 cubic meters of oxygen per day.
