COVID / UN mitigation of consequences, USD 97 million for Albania Recovery Plan


The United Nations (UN) supports with a fund of 97 393 880 USD, the socio-economic and recovery plan of Albania, with the impact of mitigating the consequences of the crisis caused by the pandemic COVID-19.

In a press release, the UN states that “with an estimated budget of $ 97,393,880, the proposed plan sets out the consolidated offer of United Nations agencies for socio-economic response and recovery by complementing the Government's National Response Plan. Albania (to be published soon) and the current National Strategic Preparation and Response Plan ”.

The purpose of this Plan is to ensure a coordinated, collaborative and comprehensive effort to address the multidimensional impacts of COVID-19, and to protect the needs and rights of people living under pandemic pressure, with a focus on the most vulnerable groups. and people who risk being left behind.

While the Plan was developed under the general leadership of the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Albania and the technical leadership of UNDP Albania with the support of WHO and UNICEF Albania.

According to the UN, the Plan identifies 113 priority actions aimed at promoting socio-economic development in Albania by minimizing and mitigating the negative impact of COVID-19.

"The plan seeks to support the Government of Albania in the recovery of the country based on five pillars, namely: Protection of the health system and services - led by WHO; Social protection and basic services - led by UNICEF; Protection of jobs and small and medium enterprises, and the most vulnerable productive actors - led by UNDP; Macroeconomic Response and Multilateral Cooperation - led by the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator; "Social cohesion and community resistance - led by UNDP", it is said in the UN announcement. / ATSH
