The country's foreign exchange reserves held by the Bank of Albania mainly in euros, dollars and very little in gold, have been growing steadily.
At the end of March 2020, the foreign exchange reserve stock amounted to about 3.32 billion euros.
The Bank of Albania announced that this level is considered sufficient to cover 6.5
months of import of goods and services.

Every year, the Bank of Albania plans to buy foreign currency in the market in order to increase its foreign exchange reserves, through a calendar set at the beginning of the year for an amount that fluctuates around 100-130 million euros, guaranteeing a healthy financial system.
