FIRST is the most powerful and important sense through which we understand Architecture! Light plays a primary role in how we perceive the shapes of a space, colors, materials; its intensity, strength, positioning directly affect the drama of the form!
It is that natural force to which every architect bows and respects to the extreme. The project, its forms, are read, perceived and judged in the end by the very way it faces the light. It is a force that architects try to "control" to create almost dramatic effects both outside and inside, but of course the challenge is great!
It takes deep knowledge of what is unhesitatingly called the "science of lighting"! The form is very important to read not only in its individual form, but also in the relationship it creates with other forms that surround it!
Light can have an extreme function: the best friend and worst enemy for an architect!
It is the unique and most real filter in which the form of architecture is "sites"!
In this optics it is up to the architect to use the light, to remodel it, to orient it where he wants, to change its shape "to tire"… to turn it into MATTER - whether it be diffused light, or - even a stain on the floor, as inside and out in megan human dimensions or design elements!
It is the light that we architects can "control" J
That light that wears architecture with great emotional value and helps to create an experience.
3 are the main aspects of artificial light in Architecture:
AESTHETICS is the part of lighting that architects focus on with the aim of creating lighting balances in architecture so that people focus towards a certain space.
FUNCTION - apart from aesthetics, the functional aspect should not be overlooked - we want people to SEE! At all times the condition of the first must be met sufficiently either when moving from one indoor environment to another, or when being placed around an architectural ensemble.
EFFICIENCY-The science of lighting evolves at galloping steps. In the era of "green" architecture, what is innovative today can very quickly turn into "old fashioned". We really want the dramatic effect that leaves us breathless, but this is considered "successful" when its costs now and in times are efficient! For this reason, the "LED" technology has become widely used.
"Light-Emitting Diode" which has replaced fluorescent lighting with great success!
