MEDICINE - Rapid saliva test detects coronavirus in minutes

The rapid saliva test (Trs) is able to detect the coronavirus in minutes and will soon be marketed with a real kit, announced the Seven Lakes Regional Health Authority, in collaboration with the University of Insubria in Varese.

The new tool that can diagnose Covid-19 positivity through saliva, "taking 3 to 6 minutes", works similarly to a pregnancy test.

Saliva is collected in a paper swab and treated with a special reagent: if a line appears it is negative, if two person is positive.

According to researchers, the test will be able to diagnose positivity even in asymptomatic subjects, an important feature in light of the progressive reopening of states. / ATA
