The number of new coronavirus infections, recorded in a single day worldwide, broke all records yesterday since the beginning of the pandemic, with 294,237 cases in 24 hours, the World Health Organization announced.
This brings the number of infected people worldwide to over 21 million, while that of the dead to more than 755,000.
The previous overall daily record was July 31, when just over 292,000 new cases were reported.
In absolute numbers, the most affected countries are the United States, Brazil and India, which separately recorded more than 100,000 cases over the past seven days.
