The Ministry of Health and Social Protection has informed that within the last 24 hours 117 positive cases of COVID-19 have been identified.
Eugena Tomini, Head of Surveillance and Epidemic Intelligence Service at IPH said that “currently we have community transmission of the spread of the virus in some municipalities of the country. The Ministry of Health urges citizens not to lower their vigilance: Put on a mask, maintain distance and hygiene, to limit the spread of COVID19. The week we left behind has shown an increasing trend of confirmed positive cases, increased hospitalizations, patients who needed intensive therapy treatment but also intubated patients. Unfortunately we have also had an increase of citizens who have lost their lives. "Currently we have a community broadcast of the spread of the virus in some municipalities of the country."
Describing a serious epidemiological situation of COVID-19, Tomini said that, "this situation requires reflection from citizens not to reduce vigilance, respecting the established measures, and businesses by implementing security protocols. In 24 hours last, they could not win the battle with the disease 2 citizens: A 70-year-old from Tirana and a 66-year-old patient from Shkodra, with concomitant diseases. The Ministry of Health and Social Protection expressed its condolences to the families of the deceased. The situation in the infectious disease hospital continues to be aggravated. In the last 24 hours there is an increase of hospitalized patients, where currently there are 85 patients in the hospital, 10 patients are in intensive therapy and 4 of them are intubated, in serious condition ".
According to her, during the last 24 hours, 585 tests were performed on suspects affected by COVID-19, of which 117 positive cases were confirmed.
“The geographical distribution of cases is as follows: 41 cases in Tirana, from 9 cases in Shkodra, Kavaja, 7 in Korca, from 6 cases Puka, Lezha, from 5 cases Durres, Kurbin, from 4 cases in Kruja, Mirdita, Tropoja, 3 in Fier, 2 cases in Kolonjë, Lushnjë, Vlora, Mat, and 1 case in Memaliaj, Ura Vajgurore, Pogradec, Kamëz, Berat, Elbasan. In the last 24 hours, 68 citizens have been cured, bringing to 2014 the number of people cured since the beginning of the epidemic. In our country there are currently 1462 active people with COVID-19, mainly in Tirana, Shkodra, Kruja, Durres ", said Tomini.
The Ministry of Health and Social Protection addresses the citizens to show care in the workplace, where services are provided and in any public environment, to respect the measures of hygiene, physical distance, avoid contact and put on masks when it is not possible to keep distance. Respect for distance, mask placement, personal and collective hygiene are the only ways to curb the spread of COVID-19. The Ministry of Health has made available to citizens the green line 0800 40 40 for psychological counseling or any information about COVID-19.
