COVID-19 / Manastirliu explains measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus


The Minister of Health, Ogerta Manastirliu in the press conference announced the measures taken after the confirmation of the first cases with the new coronavirus COVID-19 in our country. Emphasizing the trust in medical and nursing staff for coping with this COVID-19, Manastirliu listed the orders issued for coping with the new coronavirus.

"We have decided to close educational institutions, starting from kindergartens but also public and non-public kindergartens for a period of two weeks. We have decided to close public and non-public activities such as sports activities, cultural activities, conferences, until April 3. The cancellation of mass gatherings in closed or open places, such as concerts, gatherings and public hearings, until April 3 ", the minister announced.

"Today we have issued a new guideline that has to do with the limitation and prohibition of planned surgical interventions, excluding here all those operative interventions which are related to malignant pathologies. There will be no prohibitions regarding emergency surgical services. We will not violate the health care service to the citizens ", said Manastirliu.

Another order announced by Manastirliu is the temporary detention of patients' companions and relatives in the premises of health care institutions.

"In the premises of emergency medical services, in health care institutions, the entry of patients' companions and relatives will be temporarily prohibited, except in cases when a request comes from the hospital directorate or the hospital service sheriff. The same will happen not only in the emergency service but also in other hospitals that are part of the hospital corpus such as the case of the infectious hospital at QSUT. "But this will be a norm for all hospitals," said Manastirliu.

Seeking the understanding and cooperation of citizens, Manastirliu clarified that all citizens who enter the territory of the Republic of Albania and come from the isolated area in Italy, will be compulsorily self-quarantined for a period of 14 days in their premises and will measures are taken in case of quarantine breach, as a preventive measure to prevent the spread of infection caused by COVID-19.

At the end of her speech, Manatirlu appealed to the citizens to implement the measures given by the experts.

"I have an appeal for the citizens to respect the recommended measures. We need to make a pact with you, a pact with the citizens to face this battle and to cope with this battle. "All the recommendations given by the institutions must be rigorously implemented", appealed the minister.
