COVID-19 - Germany bans large gatherings of citizens

Large gatherings will continue to be banned in Germany until November to limit any spread of the new coronavirus, according to a draft agreement between the federal government and the regions.

"Major events, such as festivals, village, town, street parties, summer promotion events, filming tours or fairs will not be possible at present and (…) at least until November," according to the draft agreement.

Only more limited meetings will be authorized, allowing physical distance between participants, who must wear a mask, and a contact-tracking application.

A minimum distance of 1.5 meters will remain in effect in public space.

Schools and day care centers will continue their gradual reopening, which should be completed after the summer.

The government and the regions also encourage the Germans to use the application, effective from yesterday./ATA
