COVID-19/77 repatriation flights, over 5000 Albanian citizens returned to Albania


Tirana International Airport "Mother Teresa" remained closed for regular international civilian commercial flights due to the pandemic caused by COVID-19, but during this period under the care of the government and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy and in cooperation with the airline Air Albania has continued operations by conducting repatriation flights of Albanian citizens who had remained abroad.

According to the data published by the Albanian Civil Aviation Authority, during the period March 23 to May 28, a total of 77 repatriation flights were performed and over 5000 Albanian citizens returned to Albania.

During May, 18 flights were operated from Italy's two airports (Rome and Milan) and about 3,200 passengers were transported. From Germany, through Frankfurt airport, 6 flights were performed and about 1100 passengers were transported.

Also from Great Britain, Switzerland, France and Turkey, a total of 1600 passengers were transported to Albania, by air with the planes of Air Albania. / ATA
