COVID / 19: 72 hospitalized in infectious disease. So far 17 recovered after confirmatory tests

Mira Rakacolli, Deputy Minister of Health informs about the latest situation of COVID-19 in Albania.

In the last 24 hours, 23 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed and 111 tests have been performed.

So far 1041 tested cases are suspected and of them are confirmed positive with COVID-19, 146 citizens.

The map of those affected by COVID-19 has already been extended to Kruja and is expanding to Tirana, Korça, Fier, Durrës, Lezha, except for the detected cases for which the epidemiological investigation is being carried out and where epidemiologists are working very intensively to trace positive case contacts and disruption of the infection transmission chain.

The geographical distribution of positive cases is as follows:

  • Tirana 83 citizens
  • Durrës 9 citizens
  • Lushnje 4 citizens
  • Elbasan 3 citizens
  • Fier 14 citizens
  • Rrogozhina 2 citizens
  • Kavaja 4 citizens
  • Korca 11 citizens
  • Vlora 5 citizens
  • Shkodra 3 citizens
  • Lezhe 4 citizens
  • Berat 1 citizen
  • Has 2 citizens
  • Kruja 1 citizen

There are currently 72 hospitalized patients in the Infectious Diseases Hospital, 4 of them are in intensive therapy (3 patients are intubated in severe genes). While the rest of the patients in the pavilion are able to stabilize until now.

The good news is that 17 citizens so far have recovered (hospitalized and self-isolated) after two tests performed. But they have to stay in self-quarantine for 14 days.

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection once again addresses a prayer to the citizens: Do not go to the hospital immediately!

The Ministry has made available a FREE green line 0800 40 40 to any citizen seeking information or advice regarding COVID-19. This line will also serve chronic patients to get information on how to contact their GP, how they can benefit from reimbursed medicines and any other concerns they may have.

But it is important to clarify that: If citizens have signs of illness and for emergencies should call the unique National Emergency number 127!
