BRUSSELS - The EC presents the climate plan for a greener EU

The European Commission today unveiled its new 2030 climate plan, including a stricter target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 55 %.

"The future of future generations is at stake if the EU does not take action now," said Frans Timmermans, European Commissioner for the European Green Agreement.

As part of the plan, the EC published the proposed changes to a previously proposed European Climate Law, including the new target of reducing by law emissions by 55 %, from 40 %.

Timmermans clarified that the Commission will present a detailed plan on how to achieve this goal by June 2021.
