American Investment Bank has been active in the Albanian banking system for 5 years.
On the occasion of the 5th anniversary, the Minister of Finance Mrs. Denaj, the Governor of the Bank of Albania Mr. Sejko were present, as well as personalities in the field of economy and banking system in Albania.
Present at the event was also the US Ambassador Mrs. Yuri Kim who emphasized the American investments considering them as a priority.
Full speech by Ambassador Yuri Kim:
"Thank you for inviting me this evening. It is my pleasure to join Minister Denaj, Governor Sejko, Andi Balta and all the distinguished guests present tonight to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the American Investment Bank.
Many of you have heard me say this before, including at the General Assembly of the American Chamber of Commerce last week: increasing trade and investment between the United States and Albania is a priority for me.
ABI and NCH Capital are some of the best examples to date of how US investment can succeed in Albania.
Early in my tenure as Ambassador to Albania, I traveled to New York, where I met with NCH Gregory Katz and Sterling Thomas to learn about their investments in the region, including ABI Bank. I hope that ABI's experience so far will encourage NCH and other American companies to invest more capital in Albania.
In addition to being a smart investor, ABI has proven to be a socially responsible corporation. As a member of the American Chamber of Commerce, ABI has often sponsored activities.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, ABI rose to a significant level. Under the leadership of Andi Balta, ABI recognized the critical need in the country for emergency medical equipment. Instead of simply waiting for solutions from others, ABI jumped into action. Thanks to the company, the hospital system has additional respirators, companies in difficulty have access to capital and people in need have received other donations. It is this kind of corporate social responsibility that makes me proud to support companies and investments from the United States.
I look forward to working with our Albanian partners in government and business leaders like you to make Albania more attractive to American investors. We want our economic relationship to rise to the same level as our strong political connection. I have no doubt that ABI will play an important role in this effort.
Congratulations to ABI for five successful years in Albania! We wish you more years of success. "
